JAKARTA - Former Israeli defense minister Yoav Gallant criticized the International Criminal Court (ICC), in connection with an arrest warrant against him and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the war in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
The ICC based in The Hague, Netherlands issued arrest warrants against PM Netanyahu, Gallant, and Hamas leader Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri also known as Mohammed Defif, on charges of war crimes in Gaza, on Thursday.
The warrant effectively prohibits Netanyahu and Gallant from entering 124 ICC member states. Israel and the US themselves are known not to be members of the court.
In his tweet on social media X, Gallant wrote, an outrageous ICC decision will be remembered as a disgrace, placing Israel and Hamas in an equal position.
"Today's decision legitimizes and awards for the murder, rape and kidnapping of Israeli children, women and men," Gallant tweeted, as quoted November 22.
Gallant further wrote that this decision is also a dangerous precedent for democracy around the world in the fight against terrorism.
Galant wrote, Israel will not be afraid, it has long passed days when the Israeli nation cannot defend itself. "The IDF will continue to struggle to achieve this war's goal: dissolve Hamas, ensure the return of the hostages, and allow the northern Israeli people to return to their homes," Gallant wrote.

"I am proud of the extraordinary privilege I have in leading Israel's defense agency during our toughest time - fighting on seven battlefields," Gallant continued.
"I support our troops who will continue to operate at the highest level of professional and moral while defending the State of Israel," he said.
Earlier, ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan had announced in May that his party was seeking the arrests of Netanyahu and Gallant, as well as three Hamas leaders who were later killed, quoted by The Times of Israel.
