Pramono Promises To Create Si Pitung Shelter To Develop Betawi Culture

JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Candidate number 3 Pramono Anung promised to build the Si Pitung shelter if he won the Jakarta gubernatorial election. This will be realized as a means of developing Betawi culture.

This promise was made by Pramono when he received support from the family of Betawi Si Pitung.

"Of course there must be a place to float into the relic of Si Pitung. So, earlier the Si Pitung Foundation asked for a halfway house to be tribute to Si Pitung," said Pramono in Rawabelong, West Jakarta, Thursday, November 21.

The function of this stopover, according to Pramono, will be different from Si Pitung's house in Marunda, Cilincing, North Jakarta, which is now a museum or cultural heritage.

The shelter that will be built, he continued, will be a forum for the community to learn Betawi culture such as pencak silat and others.

"This is a halfway house that is managed directly by the family, so it's not a museum. These are the remains of Si Pitung who are being treated by his family," said Pramono.

Along with the transfer of the nation's capital city (IKN) to the archipelago, Jakarta will become a global city with special regional status.

In Law Number 2 of 2024, the Jakarta government is mandated to allocate cultural endowment funds. Pramono also believes that the budget allocation will be available to build the Si Pitung shelter.

"If the law has been implemented, it is very easy to make the Sipitung Shelter house. Because the budget must exist, because the most important culture in Jakarta is Betawi," he added.
