JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka on Wednesday visited residential areas in Muara Angke, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, which have been affected by coastal flooding since November 15, 2024.

The vice president was accompanied by the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Teguh Setyabudi, to review residential areas for residents who are often affected by tidal waves.

The vice president also greeted people whose activities and mobility were often disrupted due to tidal waves that still often submerged their territory.

In line with President Prabowo Subianto's directives, the Vice President emphasized the importance of strengthening the coordination of various related parties in efforts to handle the tidal wave that often occurs in Jakarta.

He also highlighted the importance of accelerating the development of integrated flood control infrastructure, including a giant marine embankment construction project to protect Jakarta from the impact of sea level rise.

The Vice President assessed that flood management is not only the responsibility of one generation, but the legacy that must be prepared for future generations.

Therefore, every step must be designed with a long-term vision for a safer and more sustainable future.
