JAKARTA - Turkey made history when the ULAQ Armed Nirawak Surface Vehicle, developed by the ARES and Mettextan Defense Shipyards, managed to record an export agreement.
Defense's context in a late-month statement said ULAQ had signed its first export contract with Qatar, which further confirmed its role in the Turkish defense industry.
The agreement was completed during the Qatar Milipol Exhibition, which made it Turkey's first export project for unmanned maritime vehicles, reported by the Daily Sabah on November 14.
Based on the contract, the Nirawak Surface Vehicle for Port Protection or ULAQ 11 PSV Base will be used by the Qatar Coast Guard Command for reconnaissance, surveillance, intelligence missions to important infrastructure protection.
The ULAQ 11 PSV, which will be delivered after signing the contract, will be equipped with a 12.7-millimeter automatic weapon system, radar, encrypted communication system and autonomy software on a highly advanced platform.
