National Police Chief: Turnover Of Online Judicial Money Reaches IDR 283 Trillion

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo submitted a report on the prosecution of the National Police regarding online gambling. Sigit said the circulation of online gambling money reached Rp. 283 trillion.

"Regarding this online gambling crime based on the latest data from the first to 3 quarters, there was approximately a turnover of Rp. 283 trillion. Therefore, we also made various efforts, starting from uncovering the case during 2020-2024, 9,096 suspects, we secured 5,991 accounts blocked and 68,108 sites we turned off," said Sigit in a joint working meeting with Commission III of the DPR, Monday, November 11.

Sigit also revealed the modus operandi of the perpetrators. "Starting from the marketing process which then utilizes influencers, blacklink government websites, broadcasts and promotions on social media," he said.

"Then the payment tools that previously used the account are currently shifting using payment gateways, qris and e-wallet and are now also shifting using crypto," continued Sigit.

Sigit also said that online gambling transactions had shifted to lower class people with the nominal 'ceh'.

"Then the transaction, which was originally in the middle to upper class, is currently starting to shift the lower middle class, which was previously Rp. 100,000 to Rp. 1 million, is currently developing with a transaction figure of Rp. 10,000 and can also participate in online gambling," explained Sigit.

"So this causes the spread of the perpetrators or the public who then add to the online gambling," he added.
