Ahead Of The Extraordinary OIC Summit And The Deputy Minister Of Foreign Affairs' Arab League Anis Matta: We Are Palestinians

JAKARTA - Indonesian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anis Matta emphasized that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) must support the Palestinian struggle, asserting that up to three times "we are Palestinians".

He conveyed this when attending the Preparation Meeting of the Extraordinary OKI and Arab League Summits in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 10.

"The Palestinian struggle to seize independence is the basis for the formation of the OIC. That is why we are all Palestinians and must help the Palestinian struggle," he said, citing a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Monday, November 11.

As if it was not enough, Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta three times emphasized, "we are Palestinians", reflecting Indonesia's commitment to Palestinian independence.

On this occasion, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia also encouraged the OIC and the Arab League to take concrete actions.

"Cwords must be realized immediately in real action, including in ensuring sustainable humanitarian assistance for Palestine," said the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

It is known that the Extraordinary Summit will be held on November 11, 2024, discussing the efforts of the OIC and the Arab League to stop Israeli jurisprudence in Palestine and Lebanon.

The summit preparation meeting was chaired by Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, attended by representatives of OIC member countries and the Arab League such as Algeria, Iran, Lebanon, Egypt, Palestine and Turkey.

The latest conflict in Gaza, Palestine broke out on October 7, 2023, when a Palestinian militant group led by Hamas attacked Israel's southern region, killing about 1,200 people and holding 253 others hostage, according to Israeli tallies.

Meanwhile, Gaza's health authorities on Sunday confirmed that the death toll from Palestine since the latest conflict in Gaza has risen to 43,603 fatalities, while 102,929 others were injured, the majority of the victims were women and children, quoted from WAFA.
