Reminding Firli Bahuri Suspect Of Extortion, DPR Asked To Pay Attention To The KPK's Capim Trace Record

JAKARTA - Indonesia Calling (IM) 57+ Institute asks the DPR RI to pay attention to the track record of candidates for leadership and supervisory board during the fit and proper test process. Figures like Firli Bahuri should not be elected because they have a bad impact on the institution.

This was conveyed by the Chairman of the IM 57+ Institute, Praswad Nugraha in response to the fit and proper test process that will be held by the DPR RI after President Prabowo Subianto agreed to continue the name that had been submitted by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) before stepping down.

"We will not formulate many indicators as a measure in the selection of KPK candidates. For us, there are only two important points in the election of leadership candidates, namely the track record and the willingness to carry the independence of the KPK," Praswad said in a written statement quoted on Monday, November 11.

Praswad alluded to Firli Bahuri, who had led the KPK before finally resigning because he was caught in a case. He said, this kind of incident should not be repeated.

Because Firli's election at that time was the main factor in the destruction of the KPK. The retired National Police is said to have a poor track record.

It is known that Firli Bahuri resigned after being caught in a extortion case handled by Polda Metro Jaya. He is suspected of asking former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo for money at the KPK.

"In 2019, Firli Bahuri noted that the potential for ethical violations was complete but but was chosen. Finally, it was not surprising when he was elected, in just a matter of months he had committed the first ethical violation," he said.

"This means that the track record has a very important role," continued the former KPK employee.

Furthermore, Praswad also reminded the DPR RI should choose a candidate who can restore the independence of the KPK. Do not let this institution become a political tool.

"The public is tired of seeing the KPK become a bargain tool and a political bang tool. When the KPK is busy doing this, work will not be done seriously," he said.

"KPK already has a strong and professional resource. Independence and track record of integrity are real problems today," explained Praswad.

As previously reported, Coordinating Minister for Kumham Imipas Yusril Ihza Mahendra said President Prabowo Subianto approved the names of 10 candidates and supervisory boards of the KPK proposed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

The ten names are Agus Joko Pramono, Ahmad Alamsyah Saragih, Djoko Poerwanto, Fitroh Rohcahyanto, Ibnu Basuki Widodo, Ida Budhiati, Johanis Tanak, Michael Rolandi Cesnanta Brata, Poengky indarti, and Setyo Budiyanto.

"The DPR is welcome to process these names to choose five names so that they are determined by the president," said Yusril as confirmed in Jakarta, Friday, November 8, which was confiscated by Antara.
