The Ministry of Environment (KLH) has arrested a man with the initials J as the manager of an illegal final disposal site (TPA) in Limo Village, Depok, West Java (West Java). The TPA pollutes the surrounding environment.
Director General of Law Enforcement of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) Ratio Ridho Sani said suspect J had been secured as a follow-up to sealing in an inspection conducted by Minister of Environment and Forestry, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, on November 4.
"In accordance with the orders of the Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol, we will investigate other parties involved in the illegal waste TPA case in Limo Village, Depok City. We take firm action not only against suspect J as the perpetrator or person in charge of this illegal waste TPA, but we will also follow up on where the garbage was dumped and buried in that location," said Rasio at a press conference in Jakarta, Friday, November 8, which was confiscated by Antara.
He explained that after being secured by the Investigation Team of the Directorate General of Law Enforcement (Gakkum) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, suspect J, who lives in Limo Village, Depok, has been detained at the Class I Detention Center in Central Jakarta.

Law enforcement begins with complaints and reports from the surrounding community regarding the existence of TPA which is suspected of polluting the environment and often burning garbage openly or open burning. In fact, said Ratio Ridho Sani, there had been landslides.
Residents living around illegal TPA locations also feel other negative impacts, such as unpleasant odors and combustion smoke that cause respiratory problems, including Acute Respiratory Channel Infections (ARI). Responding to the report, the KLH Law Enforcement Team took firm law enforcement actions.
"This firm action taken by determining suspect J must be a lesson for other perpetrators," he said.
Suspect J is threatened with a maximum imprisonment of 10 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 10 billion based on Article 98 Paragraph (1) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management.
