Pramono-Rano Will Give Cosplayer Wide Space To Be Creative If Elected

The pair of Candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung-Rano Karno attended the Jakarta Costume Festival (Jakofest) 2024.

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Costume Festival (Jakofest) was in the spotlight when the pair of Candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung-Rano Karno arrived in costumes inspired by the popular character, One Piece.

Pramono wore a hat and t-shirt with a typical Monkey D. Luffy, the protagonist, who stole the attention of many visitors.

"Today I wear Luffy's costume, One Piece. I have always liked characters like this, including Captain Tsubasa. I am interested in the figure who is the leader, regulator, and creator," said Pramono, quoted Monday, November 4.

Jakofest, which was held at GOR Soemantri Brodjonoegoro, aims to promote cosplay culture and provide a platform for fans to be creative, interact and share their interests. This event includes various activities such as cosplay competitions, art exhibitions, workshops, and music performances, making it a lively and inclusive creative celebration event.

One Piece fans in Indonesia with their Main character Monkey D Luffy, most of whom are teenagers, are very enthusiastic about this character. Some aspects of Luffy's personality, such as optimism, fighting spirit, and loyalty to friends, inspire many people to pursue their dreams. Luffy is known for his brave attitude to face challenges, making him a role model for fans who want to imitate his positive qualities.

Meanwhile, Rano Karno, who is cosplay's character, Jimbei, Luffy One Piece's best friend, expressed his commitment to providing the widest possible space for young people, especially for the cosplayer community of Generation Z. They believe that this generation has great potential to contribute to Indonesia's creative culture and industry.

"Personally, I will make this costume festival a top priority and must be included in the Jakarta Provincial Government's calendar of activities. This is a destination or one demonstration that has become a new pattern in the world," he said.

Rano, who is familiarly called Bang Doel, also emphasized that cosplay has gone worldwide and has an extraordinary community. He hopes that this festival can inspire the creativity of young Indonesians and create local heroes who can become idols of the next generation.

"If we go to real Japan, wow, there maybe Tokyo can be full of children who are cosplay from all over the world," he said.
