JAKARTA - Police arrested 11 people who were involved in online gambling practices. Some of them are expert staff of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi).
"11 people were arrested and named as suspects. Civilians and some of them (employees) Komdigi, there are also some expert staff," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi, Friday, November 1.
It was not conveyed in detail the number and initials of Komdigi employees who had been named as suspects.
It is only stated that they abuse their authority in handling non-criminal online gambling.
"They abused (the authority)," said Ade.
Previously, Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, said that his party was examining employees of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) who were suspected of being involved in online gambling syndicates.
The examination is a follow-up to the direction of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in eradicating online gambling.
"Regarding one of the employees at the Komdigi ministry, an investigation is still being carried out to deepen the investigation," said Trunoyudo.
The National Police will cooperate with other stakeholders in uncovering and eradicating online gambling practices.
