BPJPH: Non-halal Products Excepted From Mandatory Halal Certification

JAKARTA - Head of the Halal Product Guarantee Administration Agency (BPJPH) Haikal Hassan said non-halal products are exempt from mandatory halal certificates.

Referring to Law Number 33 of 2014 Article 4 it is firm that all products that enter, circulate and are traded in Indonesian territory must be certified halal, with clear limits and conditions.

He said, based on the law, what is meant by products, namely food, beverages, cosmetics, drugs circulated in Indonesia, distributed, traded, must be certified halal.

"However, business actors who produce products from non-halal or non-halal materials are of course exempt from applying for halal certificates," said Haikal during a press conference in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, November 1.

This refers to Government Regulation (PP) Number 42 of 2024 Article 2 paragraph 2 states that products originating from materials that are forbidden are exempt from halal certified obligations. Then it must be given information that is not halal, such as in paragraph 3 of the article.

"What's not halal? Look at Article 2 paragraph 2 that the products categorized are not halal, except in Article 2 paragraph 3, products that cannot be certified halal are required to be given illegal information. That's as simple as that," said Haikal.

"So those who sell pigs, I'm sorry, please don't have a problem, say it's from pigs," continued the man who is usually called Babe Haikal.

In this regard, he admitted that he had received a message message on Tiktok which stated that a woman selling her brush and brush reads "from pig hair". He considered that that this should have been done because it was in accordance with the procedure.

"This is true, so protecting all of Indonesia's bloodshed is the mandate of the state and the mandate of the 1945 Constitution which has now been carried out by this cabinet," said Haikal.
