LAMPUNG - Fire and Rescue Service (Damkarmat) officers managed to evacuate a 3.5 meter long king cobra in a residential area of Wonodadi Village, Tanjung Sari District, South Lampung Regency (Lamsel).

Head of the Fire Department at the Damkarmat Lamsel Service, Rully Fikriansyah, said the highly venomous snake entered the residents' cemetery area and was successfully evacuated using a simple fishing gear.

"Yes, that's right, on Thursday, October 31, 2024, the 3.5 meter long king cobra evacuation around residents' houses, in piles of stones," he said in Kalianda, Thursday, October 31, which was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the chronology of the incident began with a resident calling the call center of the fire department post and rescuing the Tanjung Bintang post, to ask for help evacuating the king cobra.

Then members of the Tanjung Bintang post responded and prepared equipment and headed to the location at 09.45 WIB and managed to evacuate at 11.30 WIB.

"After receiving the report, the team immediately moved quickly to the location at Mr. Andi's house, then prepared a fishing gear, the evacuation process lasted for approximately two hours because the snake entered the rock pile area," he said.

He said, after the cobra was secured, officers took and released the snake to a place far from residential areas.

Therefore, Rully appealed to residents to immediately report to the Fire Station if they found a cobra or other similar things that could endanger residents in the neighborhood.

"Our officers have expertise and are ready to help evacuate venomous animals, such as snakes. Residents should not evacuate themselves, because they are very dangerous and can even threaten their lives," he said.

Andi, a resident of Tanjung Sari Subdistrict, said that his party was worried that the snake would be found, with such a size, it is possible that there are still many young snakes roaming around their settlements.
