PDIP Calls Prabowo-Megawati Meeting Must Have Happened But The Time Is Not Yet Certain

JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Hasto Kristiyanto said that the Fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri and the Eighth President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto will definitely meet.

This was conveyed by Hasto when reporters asked whether there would be a meeting between Megawati and Prabowo.

"It will definitely happen. Because Pak Prabowo is the President of the Republic of Indonesia. He is the president of all Indonesian people. So the meeting between the leaders of Bu Mega and Pak Prabowo is very important, especially with a long historical track record. Being a friend was built a long time ago between Mrs. Mega and Pak Prabowo," said Hasto in his statement in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 29.

Because, for PDIP, Prabowo is currently the president of all Indonesian people. "Wait for the momentum because yesterday Pak Prabowo was preparing all his ministers," he added.

Furthermore, when asked when Megawati and Prabowo met, Hasto did not answer the specific time. He only gave a signal that the meeting was crucial because the simultaneous regional elections would soon be held.

"We will, of course, communicate this meeting to ensure that the Pilkada take place in a conducive manner. Because this is a display of the first performance of President Prabowo's administration. And in his speech when he was inaugurated as president, Pak Prabowo conveyed his commitment to build democracy, to realize people's sovereignty," said Hasto.

"With a speech from President Prabowo, we believe in the neutrality of all state apparatus. President Prabowo is the president of all of us," he concluded.

Previously, Sunday (20/10), PDI-P DPP Chair Puan Maharani said the friendship between the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia and PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri and President Prabowo Subianto who had just been inaugurated was not limited to the momentum of the presidential inauguration.

"God willing, we will meet soon, the friendship cannot then be limited before the inauguration or at the inauguration or not yet being inaugurated," said Puan when met after the Inauguration of the President and Vice President Elected for the 2024 General Election at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, at that time.

Chairman of the PDI-P faction of the MPR RI Ahmad Basarah said Megawati scheduled a meeting with Prabowo after the presidential inauguration was held.

"God willing, after the inauguration of the president today, Mrs. Mega has scheduled a friendship and a meeting between her and President Prabowo Subianto as a meeting of two friendly national figures," he said.

He said Megawati was unable to attend the Inauguration of the Elected Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates for Election Results 2024 due to unfavorable health conditions.
