JAKARTA - The United Nations has expressed serious concern about the Israeli blockade in North Gaza, highlighting its international law violations.

UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq stressed that the massive damage to Gaza caused by Israel's continuing intense attacks.

"The major damage caused by the blockade in North Gaza illustrates that the war was launched without respect to international law. Families were trapped at their location, unable to move," Haq said, launching WAFA Oct. 25.

He further noted that around 50,000 to 70,000 people are currently still in Bali. Meanwhile, about 63,000 people have fled from the northern region to the center of the Gaza Strip.

When asked about the UN's message to the people of North Gaza, Haq replied, "We continue to work for them. We are trying hard to ensure that the world hears and sees their needs."

He added that UN staff are trying to fulfill their duties in Gaza in a very challenging condition.

Separately, health authorities said Palestinian deaths since the latest conflict broke out in Gaza on October 7, 2023, had reached 42,874 people and 100,544 others were injured, the majority being children and women.
