KPK Guards Illegal Mining Control In Yogyakarta

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Coordination and Supervision Task Force (Satgas) team reviewed three illegal excavation C sites in the DI Yogyakarta area. This activity aims to evaluate unauthorized activities and is suspected of causing state losses.

This was conveyed by the Head of the Korsup Region III Task Force of the KPK Maruli Tua who visited illegal mining with the Yogyakarta Special Region Public Works, Housing and Energy Office (PUPESDM) (DIY), the DIY Provincial Inspectorate, and the Kulon Progo Regency Government on Monday, October 21.

"Strengthening firmness from all parties is needed in accordance with its authority to carry out its duties and functions in order to realize good lightning practices in the Special Region of Yogyakarta," Maruli said as quoted from his written statement, Wednesday, October 23.

Maruli said the illegal mines found by the KPK and related teams were in three locations. First, there is Pulo Lendah, Kulon Progo Regency with an area of 1,000 square meters which is dredged with the help of one excavator.

"This activity is illegal because business actors do not yet have a mining business permit or IUP for non-metal minerals and non-metal mineral assistance and assistance or MBLB," he said.

Meanwhile, the second location is Giling Tuksono, Kulon Progo Regency. There, the team found one excavator, one water suction device, and three trucks loading sand and rock.

Finally, the team also found illegal mines in Siyangan, Bantul Regency. The team at that time found three excavators and several trucks operating.

"Although business actors claim to have an IUP, data from the DIY PUPESDM Service shows that they only have a People's Mining Permit (IPR), which should not use heavy equipment," Maruli explained.

This condition made the KPK ask for this illegal mining business to be resolved immediately. Because, there is potential income flowing to other parties.

"Meanwhile, the local government has budgeted for repairing road maintenance with trucks that are so heavy. That is what causes the DIY Regional Government to be harmed by the allocation of regional expenditure budgets," he said.

"We hope that the follow-up after this will provide affirmation to all parties. The application for MBLB IUP permits can be taken care of without having to pay. On the other hand, mining business actors C can help provide many benefits to the community," concluded Maruli.
