Appointed By Prabowo, Sunarto Officially As Chief Justice Of The Supreme Court

JAKARTA - Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (MA) for the period 2024-2029 Sunarto read out his oath of office in front of President Prabowo Subianto today, Tuesday, October 22. He officially replaces Muhammad Syarifuddin.

Judging from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, the oath-taking was carried out at around 10.00 WIB at the State Palace, Jakarta. The activity began with singing Indonesia Raya and reading Presidential Decree 136P/2024 concerning the Dismissal with Respect to the Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for Judicial Affairs and Appointment of Chief Justices of the Supreme Court by Nanik Purwanti as Deputy for Apparatus Administration of the Ministry of State Secretariat.

After that, Sunarto read out the oath of office before Prabowo. By Allah I swear that I will fulfill the obligations of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court as well as possible and fairly as possible.

"To hold firmly to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and carry out all laws and regulations as straight as possible according to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and serve the homeland and nation."

Next, Sunarto signed the minutes of appointment as Chairman of the Supreme Court in front of Prabowo Subianto.

For information, Sunarto is the Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court for Judicial Affairs. He won a landslide victory by gaining a total of 30 votes in the Special Plenary Session for the Election of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court some time ago.

At that time, Sunarto fought other candidates, namely Haswandi, who is the Supreme Court Justice of the Civil Chamber, Soesilo the Supreme Court Justice of the Criminal Chamber, and Yulius served as Chairman of the State Chamber of Administration.
