Anies Baswedan's 'New' Concept Overcomes Floods In Kampung Melayu, Renovation Of 40 Stage Model Houses

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan renovated around 40 houses of residents in Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta, with the concept of houses on stilts. A number of houses are located in RT 13 RW 04, RT 11 RW 05 and RT 06 RW 05.

"A house on stilts was built, the lower part was made as high as 3.5 meters," said East Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar to reporters, Monday, April 5.

Anwar said, the renovated house is a flood-prone area. Renovation with the concept of a house on stilts was deliberately made to solve the problem of flooding in the residential area of Kebon Pala residents.

Meanwhile, he continued, the budget for the construction of the house on stilts came from the DKI Baznas (Baziz) grant. However, Anwar did not specify the nominal budget.

"The budget comes from the DKI Provincial Government's Bazis (Amil Zakat Agency). In addition to being used as a residential, the concept of a house on stilts can be used as a space for social interaction," said Anwar.

Anwar explained that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's decision to remodel the house with a stage concept was based on a fairly in-depth study. So, he said, this construction was not carried out at random.

"This area is a flooded area. Isn't there any other effort every year we flood? Finally, we carry out studies, conduct evaluations, so that a house on stilts will be built here," he said.

It is known that the construction of the house on stilts will begin on March 31, 2021. It is targeted that the house will be completed before the Idul Fitri 1442 Hijriah in May.
