CIREBON - Police Air (Polair) Cianjur Resort Police prohibits fishermen and tourists from approaching the shoreline given the extreme weather that has hit the southern coast of Cianjur since the last few days to avoid casualties.

Head of Cianjur Police, Kompol Saryoko, said that his party had also alerted about five members to supervise and urge fishermen and tourists not to play in the water because the high waves reached four meters.

"Members who are placed also urge fishermen and tourists regarding extreme weather that will hit for the next few days, so that they can be obeyed so that unwanted things do not happen," he said when contacted Friday, October 18, in a statement.

He explained that entering the rainy season from the dry season, extreme weather with high waves made the community, especially fishermen on the south coast, have been observant in reading natural signs so that few are still at sea or tourists play on the beach.

However, his party continues to alert members to coordinate with related agencies such as BPBD Cianjur, sub-district officials and volunteers, in order to supervise and report the situation every day, so that his party can take various steps including handling.

"We hope that no marine accidents will occur in Cianjur's jurisdiction, but we remain vigilant by placing officers at the south coast post, so that unwanted things can be handled quickly," he said.

Head of BPBD Cianjur Asep Sukma Wijaya said that since the last few weeks his party has placed around 50 volunteers on the south coast to supervise and report and urge fishermen not to go to sea temporarily.

Even every day his party receives information from BMKG regarding extreme weather with high waves hitting the south coast for the next few days, so volunteers are alerted in three coastal sub-districts starting from Cidaun, Sindangbarang and Agrabinta.

"High waves are expected to still hit the southern coast of Cianjur in the next few days, so that volunteers and officers on standby will be added from each village and sub-district to carry out surveillance and provide appeals and prohibitions," he said.
