The Cirebon City Police (Polresta) confiscated 681 packs of cigarettes of various brands that were sold without including health warning labels deemed to have violated regulations related to tobacco products.
"The cigarettes were confiscated during a law enforcement operation carried out on Wednesday (October 16) and we managed to secure a perpetrator with the initials PP," said Head of Cirebon Police Kombes Pol Sumarni in Cirebon, West Java (West Java), Friday, October 18, as reported by Antara.
Sumarni explained that the discovery of the evidence began with an examination of the perpetrator's shop in Greged District, Cirebon Regency.
He said officers had previously examined a person with the initials S, who was caught red-handed while buying the cigarette.
From S's statement, he said, the police identified PP as a seller and immediately arrested him at his house.
According to the Chief of Police, when officers searched, cigarettes from various brands were found, such as Manchester, Harta Warehouse, Smith, Anker, Balver, Dubois and others that did not include health warnings in the form of writings and pictures.
"We have secured 681 packs of cigarettes without a health warning because they do not comply with the provisions of the law related to tobacco products. This has the potential to endanger the community," he said.
