UN And US Urge Israel Not To Challenge Aid Distribution To Gaza

JAKARTA - Israel has received some pressure from the United Nations and the United States (US) over accusations of obstructing the delivery of aid much-needed to Gaza.

Israel, which continues to destroy Gaza, is also required to step up its efforts to address the unstoppable humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territories.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Secretary-General for UN Humanitarian Affairs Joyce MSuya and US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council that raised the issue of increasing humanitarian emergencies, especially in northern Gaza.

Citing AFP, Thursday, October 17, this meeting was initiated by Algeria as an Arab representative at the UN Security Council.

The meeting was also held after the US had previously warned Israel not to complicate aid efforts to Gaza or lose arms funding.

The Joe Biden government gave Israel a 30-day deadline to take some action on the warning, including sending 350 trucks containing food and other aid to Gaza every day.

In response, Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon claimed his country's humanitarian efforts for the hungry Gazan people and the lack of clean water did not change as before.

The Israeli ambassador actually cornered accusing the UN of more focus on the humanitarian situation in Gaza while Israeli civilians were attacked.
