Gerindra About Ridwan Kamil Wants To Run River Way: It's Called An Idea, Gives Spirit First

JAKARTA - Secretary of the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the Gerindra Party Rani Mauliani asked the public not to be pessimistic about the idea of Jakarta Governor Ridwan Kamil who wants to run water transportation or river way.

Rani said the political parties in the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Plus that brought Ridwan Kamil (RK) and Suswono to support whatever the idea of the candidate pair.

"Right now, he just wants to transport water, then an idea. I mean, it's called an idea, just give encouragement first. Now, for example, if every idea keeps thinking it's always negative, we're not moving forward, you know," Rani told reporters, Thursday, October 10.

Moreover, according to Rani, the idea of a river way could be an alternative solution for people to mobilize. This is also expected to unravel the density of traffic due to private vehicles.

In Jakarta itself, he continued, there is already a mode of water transportation. However, the transportation is still only used to cross the river, not across the flow.

However, the idea of a river way revealed by the former Governor of West Java, seen by Rani, still needs a more in-depth study.

"If indeed it can provide a solution to provide alternative public transportation to avoid congestion, why not? But it definitely needs a long study ideally," Rani explained.

Previously, the candidate for Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta number 1, Ridwan Kamil-Suswono (RIDO) ensured that the procurement of water transportation modes was likely to be presented in Jakarta.

"We will probably try to innovate to make a riverway or boat crossing 13 rivers in Jakarta," said Ridwan Kamil in the inaugural debate for the Jakarta gubernatorial election, Sunday, October 6.

Spokesperson for Ridwan Kamil-Suswono (RIDO), Bernardus Djonoputro, said that several rivers in Jakarta are very likely to become a means of river way.

"For example, the East Flood Canal (BKT), an artificial channel with a width of between 100-300 meters, depends on the location. While the banks are 18 meters each on the left and right. The characteristics are also straight, long and deep. This is a potential for transportation and water tourism," said Bernardus in his statement.

Apart from BKT, West Flood Canal (BKB) is also very possible with the Tanah Abang, Halimun, to Manggarai routes. Another river that has the potential to be made in water transportation modes is the central Ciliwung, starting from south to Cijantung and Condet.

"The presence of this water transportation will make the river more conserved and better. Currently, actually the river has also been used by residents, it's just that at this time it is not managed properly," he said.
