YOGYAKARTA Profile Sahbirin Noor has attracted public attention after he was named a suspect in a bribery and gratification case within the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan (South Kalimantan Provincial Government).

Please note, Sahbirin Noor or familiarly called Uncle Birin is the Governor of South Kalimantan for the period 2021-2024.

Sahbirin was also dragged into the Hand Arrest Operation (OTT) carried out by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Although he was not caught in the OTT, Sahbirin was also named a suspect.

On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, the KPK stated that Sahbirin was involved in corruption in receiving gifts or promises by the organizers related to construction projects at the South Kalimantan Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office. He is suspected of receiving a fee of 5 percent of the project.

Sahbirin Noor's profile is the Governor of South Kalimantan for two terms. He held the position since 2016 when he was paired with Rudy Resnawan until 2021. In the second period, 2021-2024, Uncle Birin was paired with Muhidin.

Adapted from the official website of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government, Sahbirin was born in Banjarmasin on November 12, 1967. He married Raudatul Jannah and was blessed with three children, namely Sandi Fitrian Noor, Noor Azizah Zaimah, and Noor Azkaya Alimma.

At the elementary school (SD) level, Sahbirin attended MI TPI Budi Mulia Manjarmasin and graduated in 1982. Next, he continued his education at SMPN 10 Banjarmasin and SMAN 5 Banjarmasin.

He was noted to have been the Lurah Kelayan Luar and Peurus Baru. However, Sahbirin's career as a bureaucrat ofhaya to the Secretary of the West Banjarmasin sub-district before finally choosing to retire.

Furthermore, Sahbirin was then appointed as President Director of PT Jholin Sasangga Banua, a subsidiary of Jhonlin Group. This company belongs to Andi Syamsuddin Arsyad or known as Haji Isam.

Haji Isam himself is an influential coal entrepreneur in South Kalimantan. Sahbirin is the uncle of Haji Isam. From this kinship relationship, Sahbirin was then called Uncle Birin.

They are the Head of the South Kalimantan Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office Ahmad Solhan (SOL), the Head of the Cipta Karya Division Yulianti Erlynah (YUL), the management of the Tahfidz Darussalam Ahmad (AMD) House, and the Acting Head of the South Kalimantan Governor's Household Agustya Febry Andrean (FEB).

Then, Sugeng Wahyudi (YUD) and Andi Susanto (AND) came from the private sector.

In the latest release, the KPK has also implemented Sahbirin Noor as a suspect in a bribery case within the South Kalimantan Provincial Government.
