JAKARTA - The United States military on Monday released a video it called an unsafe maneuver carried out by Russian fighter jets, when the US military intercepted near Alaska last week.
In a post by US defense authorities on social media of the Commander of the North American Defense Command and US North Command, Air Force General Gregory Guillot said Russian aircraft carried out unsafe actions, as NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) aircraft carried out safe and disciplined interception of Russian military aircraft at ADIZ Alaska.
"The action of one Russian Su-35 aircraft is unsafe, unprofessional and endangers everyone, unlike what you see from the professional air force," General Guillot said in a NORAD tweet, as quoted October 1.
The Russian Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The United States regularly intercepts Russian aircraft in international airspace near Alaska, and usually says it is done in a safe and professional manner. But this time it's different, officials say.
NORAD on September 23 said it detected and tracked four Russian military aircraft operating the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).
According to a statement sent to Fox News Digital by NORAD as quoted by the New York Post, "unprofessional air maneuvers aimed at our NORAD F-16" occurred during a "routine professional interception of Russian Tu-95 aircraft" on September 23.

NORAD, in its latest statement, noted "ADIZ began where the airspace of sovereignty ended and was a stretch of international airspace requiring the identification of all aircraft for the sake of national security."
The video shows a moment when the F-16 approached Russia's Tu-95 plane before Russia's Su-35 shot right in front of the NORAD fighter jet, which seemed to surprise him.
At the time, NORAD said Russia's activity "occurred regularly and was not considered a threat."
“On Sept 23, 2024, NORAD aircraft flew a safe and disciplined intercept of Russian Military Aircraft in the Alaska ADIZ. The conduct of one Russian Su-35 was unsafe, unprofessional, and endangered all – not what you’d see in a professional air force.” – Gen. Gregory Guillot pic.twitter.com/gXZj3Ndkag
