Defendant Insulting Acting Regent Of Sampang Sentenced To 9 Months In Prison

SAMPANG - The Sampang District Court (PN), East Java convicted Arham Nudayanto, a defendant in the case of insulting the Acting Regent (Pj) of Sampang Rudi Arifianto and former Deputy Regent of Sampang Abdullah Hidayat with a sentence of 9 months in prison.

"To try, and declare Defendant A Irham Nurdayanto legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of humiliation as an alternative indictment of the three Public Prosecutors (JPU)," said Chief Judge Ratna Mutia Rinanti when reading the verdict reported by ANTARA, Thursday, September 26.

"The defendant is therefore sentenced to nine months in prison, setting the period of arrest and detention that the defendant has served is reduced entirely from the sentence imposed," he added.

The verdict is lighter than the demands of the public prosecutor that the former Pangarengan Village Head was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in accordance with Article 311 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) paragraph (1) concerning Slander.

In this case, the defendant Irham was finally sentenced by the panel of judges and found guilty of violating Article 310 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code concerning Defamation with a sentence of 9 months in prison.

Hearing the verdict, the defendant Irham expressed his thoughts and stated that he would consult further with the legal adviser concerned.

"Still thinking about Your Majesty," said Irham in the courtroom.

Irham was caught in a case of alleged defamation of the Acting (Pj) Regent of Sampang Rudi Arifiyanto and former Deputy Regent of Sampang who are also Chairman of the DPC of the Sampang Regency United Development Party (PPP) Abdullah Hidayat.
