Prosecutors Demand 7 Years In Prison For Drug Recidivist Owner 13.65 Grams Of Shabu In Ambon

MALUKU - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) has charged the defendant Stevy Zylstra alias Epok in a seven-year prison drug case.

Evidence of a package of goods containing a pair of women's shoes and six packages of crystalline clear methamphetamine weighing 13.64 grams minus 0.01 grams for laboratory tests were seized for destruction.

"Asking the panel of judges who examined and tried this case to declare the defendant guilty of violating Article 114 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning Narcotics and sentenced the defendant to seven years in prison," said Maluku High Prosecutor Evi Hattu in a trial at the Ambon District Court (PN), Tuesday, September 24, confiscated by Antara.

The prosecutor also demanded that the defendant, who is a drug recidivist, pay a fine of Rp800 million, subsidiary to six months in prison.

There are also things that incriminate the defendant being charged with imprisonment and paying fines for not supporting the government's program in eradicating narcotics abuse and trafficking and having served sentences in the same cases in 2018 and 2021.

Meanwhile, the mitigating factor is that the defendant was polite in the trial.

During the trial, the legal adviser for the defendant Peny Tupan conveyed a defense which essentially asked for leniency from the panel of judges, while the prosecutor remained on his demands for seven years in prison.

The defendant was arrested on Friday (25/5) 2024 at around 18:00 WIT by members of the Maluku Police Narcotics Directorate after receiving a package containing narcotics sent through a freight forwarding service company.

The defendant was arrested with his wife, Joushanta Loppies, when he picked up the package, because the name of the defendant's wife was listed as the recipient of the package in question.

The illicit goods were ordered by the defendant from a person in Jakarta named Christian Oftia on May 19, 2024, for IDR 11.7 million.

Christian also asked for the defendant's account number because someone else ordered narcotics for Rp. 19,200,000.

The panel of judges postponed the trial until next week with an agenda for reading the verdict.
