Wants To Establish A People's Hall For Each Kelurahan, Pramono Anung: Don't Use It For Religious Activities

JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor-Deputy Governor Pramono Anung-Rano Karno promised to build people's halls in each kelurahan if they won the Jakarta Pilkada.

However, Pramono emphasized that the people's hall he wanted to make was not intended for religious activities.

"People want to marry their children can be there, the circumcision is there, the culture is there. The important thing is not to use it for religion," said Pramono at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Central Jakarta, Monday, September 23.

Pramono is worried about the emergence of exclusivity from religious groups if the people's hall is welcome for religious events. Meanwhile, the former Cabinet Secretary wants people's halls to be used as community gathering places without being grouped.

"If it is used for religion, there must be people who dominate. The dominating group will take over for that. So that it is really given to the community for culture, arts, circumcision, marriage, sports, prayer, and managed professionally," explained Pramono.

Pramono said that his desire to establish a people's hall came from complaints from the public who wanted to hold a wedding reception but did not have enough money to rent a building.

"When I was in Kelapa Gading, there was a mother and it made an impression on me personally. I thought, 'Father, how do I want to marry my child? Because once I leave the house, it's already a footpath. There's no way at all," said Pramono.

So, according to Pramono, the people's hall can be a means of meeting residents to become a place for organizing cultural events and wedding receptions without having to look for other locations that are far from settlements.

"There we calculate, if each sub-district we make a people's hall, and it is managed properly, there is PPSU, Ahok's troops, who are yellow troops who are responsible for daily cleanliness, while later the management will be carried out by the local government, in my opinion it will be an alternative," he added.
