RK-Suswono Pair Promises To Maintain Betawi Culture

JAKARTA - Jakarta in a de facto manner and in reality will still be the center of all affairs in Indonesia, even though it is no longer the nation's capital. "Even though Jakarta is no longer the capital city of the country, there are actually many blessings compared to its disaster. Its authority will be expanded, which used to belong to the ministry, now belongs to the province, everything will be delegated to the governor," said Ridwan Kamil in an interactive dialogue held by the Gelora Party, Sunday, September 22.

"Jakarta Baru, the concept must be formulated by 40 percent of our ideas as governor and 60 percent of all Jakarta residents. So when Jakarta rose to class to become a world city, it was still not allowed to leave its culture," he said.

The Ridwan Kamil-Suswono (RIDO) pair, said RK, has a concept in maintaining Betawi Culture in the midst of existence into a global city. Namely with the concept of the Betawi Gate, 'The Movement to Build Betawi Culture in the Middle of OTW Global City'.

"Later, the Betawi Cultural-based character curriculum will be introduced. We will revive the programs in Setu-satu such as Setu Babakan. Entering the village will be given to Gapura Betawi, we will make the architecture," said the Curator of the State Capital (IKN) Nusantara.

RK emphasized that Jakarta will later become a global service city and tourism city such as Singapore. This global tourism city and city of services will open up wide job opportunities and the creative industry will thrive.

"I am often asked by foreigners about tourism in Jakarta. I am confused about the answer, if not Monas, yes in Ancol. That's why many Jakartans are healing out of town. Well, we will make Jakarta an international tourist city, so there will be many healing places in Jakarta," he said.

For example, Kota Tua will be used as an international tourism city that lives 24 hours. In Kota Tua, there will also be film, music and culture schools, as well as lodging or boarding houses.

"We will create universities/high schools such as UPH (Pelita Harapan University) in Karawaci. The Old City will live 24 hours, with a large population," said the former Governor of West Java.
