JAKARTA - A foreign national (WNA) from Egypt was arrested by the Soekarno Hatta Airport Resort Police (Polresta), for alleged theft of an iPhone belonging to a passenger at Terminal 3 Soetta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten.

"The foreigner from Egypt that we arrested AA in the alleged theft of an iPhone 14 pro cellphone," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Soetta Airport Police, Kompol Reza Fahlevi, Saturday, September 21.

He explained that the alleged theft was known for a report on Friday, September 6 from a victim with the initials VDM from Surabaya who lost his luggage in the domestic arrival area of Terminal 3 Soetta Airport.

"The incident began when the reporter (VDM) last Sunday arrived at the domestic arrival area of Terminal 3 of Soetta Airport after making a flight from Jayapura to Jakarta," he said.

After the detention of the suspect, his party immediately coordinated with the Divhubinter Polri and the Egyptian Embassy regarding the arrest and detention to be copied to the family.

Furthermore, his party received a letter from the Egyptian Embassy of the Republic of Egypt in Jakarta regarding the application for deportation of the color of the country suspected of committing a criminal act.

"Together with the TPI Soekarno-Hatta Special Class I Immigration Office, we deported RM foreigners on Friday (20/9) in the early hours of the morning," he said.
