Ternate Corruption Court Postpones Trial Of Abdul Gani Kasuba's Decision In The Case Of Bribery And Project Gratification

TERNATE - The Panel of Judges at the Ternate Corruption Court (Tipikor) postponed the trial of the decision of the former Governor of North Maluku (Malut) Abdul Gani Kasuba (AGK) in the bribery and gratification case for project procurement and positions in the North Maluku Provincial Government.

"The trial for the AGK defendant will be postponed on Thursday, September 29," said Chief Justice Kadar Noh in Ternate, Antara, Friday, September 20.

The trial of the verdict chaired by the Chairman of the Halim Kadar Noh Council, with member judges Budi Setyawan, Khadijah A. Rumalean, Samhadi, and Yakob will be held in conjunction with the trial of the defendant Imran Yakub next week at 10.00 WIT.

According to Kadar Noh, the trial for the decision of the former Governor of North Maluku for two terms will be with the defendant Imran Yakub who is also the Head of the Education Office of the North Maluku Provincial Government who is inactive.

As is known, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) demanded that the defendant, former North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba, be sentenced to 9 years in prison in the bribery and gratification corruption case within the North Maluku Provincial Government.

The KPK sentenced the defendant Abdul Gani Kasuba to nine years in prison and a fine of Rp. 300 million, subsidiary to six months in prison.

According to KPK prosecutor Rony Yusuf, the defendant Abdul Gani Kasuba was legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption as in the first, third and third charges.

The prosecutor in the indictment for the defendant Abdul Gani Kasuba as thick as 1,872 pages prepared for two weeks also demanded replacement money in the amount of Rp109,056 billion and 90 thousand US dollars, provided that if the defendant Abdul Gani Kasuba did not pay the replacement money no later than one month after the court's decision obtained face-to-face legal force, then his property could be confiscated by the prosecutor and auctioned off to cover the replacement money.

In the event that the convict does not have sufficient assets to pay the replacement money, he will be sentenced to 5 years in prison.

The prosecutor also stipulated that the length of detention of the defendant was reduced entirely from the sentence imposed and ordered the defendant to remain in custody.

Previously, the KPK prosecutor read out the indictment against the former Governor of North Maluku AGK in the case of accepting bribes and gratuities for buying and selling positions and infrastructure projects reaching AGK, which was charged with accepting total bribes and gratuities for buying and selling positions and infrastructure projects amounting to Rp109.7 billion.

The defendant AGK as the state administrator received gratuities amounting to Rp99.8 billion and 30 thousand Singapore dollars via transfer or in cash. In this case, AGK used 27 accounts to receive gratuities and bribes, both using accounts belonging to the personal secretary, family and belonging to the defendant.
