2 Of 5 Fishermen Victims Of Sinking 2 Ships In West Kalimantan Found Dead

JAKARTA - At least two of the five victims who were missing due to the sinking of two fishing vessels in West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) were found dead.

"Yesterday the joint SAR team found two victims after the sinking of KM. Sinar Bintang 1," said Head of Operations and Alert for the Pontianak Search and Rescue Office, Eryk Subariyanto in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Friday, September 20, as reported by Antara.

Eryk explained that the two ships that sank were KM Sinar Bintang 1 and KM Karya Sampurna 7.

Meanwhile, the victims found were Supriyanto, 62, and Budi Tjahyadi, 40. Both have been handed over to the ship company.

"After being found, the bodies of each of the victims were taken to the Pontianak TPI port to be handed over to the ship's company agents where they work," he said.

Previously, it was reported that KM Sinar Bintang 1 sank in the waters of Datuk Island, Mempawah Regency. Meanwhile, KM Karya Sampurna 7 sank in the waters of the Kakap River, Kubu Raya Regency.

The two ships sank due to extreme weather that hit West Kalimantan waters from Tuesday 17 September to Wednesday 18 September.
