Bawaslu: Narrative Coblos 3 Paslon Can't Be Convicted

Chairman of the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) Rahmat Bagja said the narrative to nominate three pairs of candidates at once in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada cannot be punished.

"Until now (the narrative of the three candidate pairs) has not been (criminalized)," said Bagja as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 19.

Even so, this can be punished if the narrative reaches the stage of slander directed at regional head candidates during the campaign process.

"But later we will see in the campaign how, if the campaign has carried out slander against the candidate for regional head who then competes, it may be punished," he said.

For information, until now there are 35 regions that have the potential to hold the 2024 Pilkada with a single candidate.

However, the certainty is still waiting for the stage of determining the candidate pair on Sunday (22/9).

Later, the candidate pair for the sole regional head will compete against a column or empty box in the ballot letter. Like the single candidate, the empty box also has the right to be selected.

If the vote for the empty box is higher than the single candidate, the KPU will hold the next regional election in 2025.
