Becoming A Polemic For A Long Time, Rano Will Study Beer Shares Owned By The DKI Provincial Government

JAKARTA - The candidate for Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno, admitted that he would learn the ins and outs of the shares of the beer company PT Delta Djakarta Tbk by the DKI Provincial Government. The shares of beer owned by the DKI Provincial Government have indeed been a polemic for a long time.

"Of course we will study it," said Rano when met at the Pramono-Rano winning house, Jalan Cemara, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Sunday, September 15.

This PDIP politician admits that he has not been able to take a stand to defend or release shares of beer owned by the DKI Provincial Government if he wins the Jakarta gubernatorial election. This is because the DKI Provincial Government shares in PT Delta have a long history.

"It's been a long time. That's a long time ago, the history is long," he continued.

Initially, Anies Baswedan wanted to sell 25.26 percent of beer shares owned by the DKI Provincial Government. Anies Baswedan's plan to release beer share ownership has been promised since the beginning of his tenure as Governor of DKI.

Former Plt. Head of the DKI Regional Owned Enterprise Development Agency (BP BUMD), Riyadi, once explained the profit scheme if beer shares are sold in 2021 calculations.

"Optimizing the benefits for development if PT Delta Djakarta shares are sold for Rp800 billion. This is the result of sales if the assumption is a price per share of Rp3,800," said Riyadi on Tuesday, March 10, 2021.

Riyadi said the Rp800 billion profit would be used for 40 school constructions. Each school is budgeted at Rp20 billion. Then, the construction of 5 hospitals with a cost of Rp150 billion each. Plus, 80 thousand clean water connections with each costing Rp10 million.

However, until Anies' term ended, the plan was not carried out. In fact, Anies has applied for approval for the sale of PT Delta Djakarta shares several times to the DKI Jakarta DPRD during his time as Governor.

The former chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi at that time, emphasized that he had approved the DKI Provincial Government to sell shares of beer company PT Delta.

According to Prasetyo, the company that produces beer brands "Anker", "Carlsberg", "San Miguel", "San Mig Light" and "White Horse" is actually profitable for regional cash income. The dividend value of PT Delta to the DKI Provincial Government is the second largest after BUMD Bank DKI.

"PT Delta, during my tenure as DPRD I will not sell it because there is no capital participation, their profit is around Rp. 300 billion," said Prasetyo when met at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Monday, August 1, 2022.

Furthermore, Prasetyo explained, Delta's shares were purchased since the time of former DKI Jakarta Governor Ali Sadikin. At that time, the purchase of shares was aimed at controlling the circulation of alcohol in the community.

"For example, as local governments, we can control the extent to which people buy and drink beer. If it is not controlled, how will the community be? All of the people will get drunk," explained Prasetyo.

"How come the governor (Anies) wants to eliminate it? He doesn't know the history of PT Delta. This is not a problem, this is not haram or not haram," he added.

The ownership of beer shares was also questioned by the PKS faction of the DKI DPRD when Heru Budi Hartono served as Acting Governor of DKI. At that time, PKS urged that beer shares be sold. However, Heru emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government during his tenure would not let go of the shares.
