JAKARTA - The Liaison of the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Judicial Commission (KY) in the implementation of performance in 2024 noted that 14 reports came from the public regarding alleged violations of the judge's code of ethics.

"From January to September 2024, there have been 14 reports submitted from the public. When compared to the previous year, the number of reports is fairly high," said NTB KY Liaison Coordinator Ridho Ardian Pratama in Mataram, Friday.

Based on the results of the examination of 14 reports, he explained, many reporters came from the people of East Lombok Regency.

"So, for this year, most of the reporters come from East Lombok Regency, regarding general criminal cases. Last year, it was dominant from Central Lombok," he said.

However, the high enthusiasm of the public in utilizing the existence of KY, there are still many reports that come in regarding being dissatisfied with the verdict of the case, not related to the behavior of the judge.

"Many have reported to us the problem of not being satisfied with the verdict, even though it is not the authority of KY," he said.

Therefore, Ridho and his colleagues from the NTB KY Liaison conducted an evaluation and further intensified socialization to the public about the role of KY in supervising judge behavior.

"The socialization in the form of public education aims to make the public understand the role and task of KY in following up on reports as well as as a forum for KY to open a reporting space for the community," he said.

In 2024, NTB KY Liaison chose East Lombok Regency as a target for the implementation of public education by referring to the number of reports.

"Why East Lombok? Therefore, this year's report came from the people of East Lombok. Last year, we focused it on Central Lombok, because the reports were quite high from the people there," he said.

Such as public educational activities that took place in Pringgasela Village, East Lombok Regency, Thursday, September 12. KY collaborated with academic speakers from Mataram University Hotibul Islam.

The activity, which was held in the hall of the Pringgasela Village Office, raised the theme of the role of NTB KY Liaison in supporting the authority and duties of the Judicial Commission of the Republic of Indonesia. Participants who attended came from various elements, including the community, village governments, BPD, and babinsa.

Through these activities, he hopes that the public can take advantage of the presence of KY in NTB in terms of monitoring the trial where there is a suspicion of a violation of the judge's code of ethics.
