Anticipating Mpox, Tangerang District Health Office Observes Arrivals from Abroad

TANGERANG - The Tangerang Regency Health Office (Dinkes) is currently on alert for exposure to the monkeypox virus (Mpox) by monitoring everyone who has traveled from abroad.

"Especially for residents who often travel abroad, there is a surveillance team. Later, the Surveillance Team will report to the Health Office," said the Head of the Tangerang Regency Health Office, Muchlis when confirmed, Thursday, September 12.

Based on the data received, said Muchlis, until now no residents in his area have been detected as being exposed to Mpox or monkeypox.

Nevertheless, he remains on alert for the disease. Therefore, his party has sent a circular to all health centers and health facilities.

In fact, he continued, isolation rooms have also been prepared if there are Tangerang Regency residents who are exposed. Of course, with the standard operating procedures (SOP) that have been implemented by the Central Government.

"We have not mapped which areas are vulnerable. Because, until now, no cases have been found in the Regency area," he said.

For information, the World Health Organization (WHO) on August 14, 2024, designated Mpox as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) following the increase in Mpox cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and several countries in Africa.
