Landslides On Peundeuy-Cibalong Main Road Garut, General Transportation Can Use Alternative Girimukti-Banjarwangi

GARUT - The Transportation Service (Dishub) of Garut Regency, West Java, ensured that landslides that eroded the main road connecting Peundeuy-Cibalong District in the south of Garut did not interfere with public transportation to serve community mobilization by using village alternative roads.

"Public transportation is still running using the Girimukti road, Banjarwangi," said Head of the Garut Regency Transportation Agency Satria Budi in Garut, Antara, Wednesday, September 11.

A landslide disaster in Cinangsi Village, Toblong Village, Peundeuy District, Garut Regency, Wednesday morning, has cut off the main road connecting Peundeuy-Cibalong District.

The route, he said, is a dumpling route to the Guntur Garut-Cibalong Terminal across Singajaya, where every day there are three fleets serving passengers in the area.

Even though there are only three fleets ofmen every day, he said, public transportation is still the mainstay of the people of the southern region to travel to Garut urban areas and vice versa.

"Yes, it is still a mainstay, although there are also other public transportation that is not only that, there are rural transportation in the area as well," he said.

He conveyed that because the road was cut off, his party implemented road engineering by utilizing village roads for public transportation coming from Garut to Cibalong through Girimukti.

Meanwhile, from the opposite direction, he said, public transportation from Cibalong District to Garut City was directed to pass through the Pameungpeuk route or the southern Garut highway with better road conditions.

"From Morocco's direction, Cibalong to Singajaya cannot, the road is small, only the village road, it's better through Pameungpeuk, so there will be road engineering later," he said.

He said the engineering of the public transport route was to avoid roads that were affected by landslides, even though the distance would be further or longer by about half an hour due to turning directions.

"Of course it interferes with travel, the time is too much, it should be one hour to 1.5 hours, economically the community is quite relatively far away, because they have to turn around," he said.

He conveyed that the Garut Transportation Agency has now reported to the Garut Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office to immediately address the road conditions affected by the landslide so that public transportation can return to normal.

According to him, the condition of the road that was affected by the landslide was considered quite large, so it would take a long time to repair it, but hoped that the relevant agencies could speed up the repair process.

"The request for repairs has been done, it will take time for repairs, especially since the landslide is quite large," he said.

Previously, the landslide that occurred on Wednesday morning caused agricultural land to be affected and the asphalt road, which is estimated to have eroded about 70 meters.

As a result of the landslide, the road access connecting the two sub-districts was disrupted and two-wheeled vehicles could not be crossed.

The landslide disaster occurred after a long rain that flushed the southern region of Garut from Tuesday (10/9) night to Wednesday morning.
