JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta High Court has increased the verdict of former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL in cases of extortion and gratification in the environment of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) of the Republic of Indonesia. Not only from criminal sanctions, the panel of judges also added the replacement value that SYL had to pay to Rp44.7 billion. In the decision of the panel of judges, if the former Minister of Agriculture does not have the ability, then all of his assets will be auctioned off to meet the value of the replacement money. In fact, if SYL does not have sufficient assets, it will be replaced with corporal punishment. "If you don't pay, your property will be confiscated and auctioned off by the prosecutor to cover the replacement money, provided that if the convict does not have sufficient property, he will be sentenced to imprisonment for 5 years," he said. Meanwhile, for criminal sanctions, the panel of judges also increased the verdict handed down in the first instance to 12 years and a fine of Rp. 500 million. "The defendant Syahrul Yasin Limpo was therefore sentenced to 12 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million provided that if the fine was not paid, it was replaced with imprisonment for 4 months in prison," said Theresia.
