JAKARTA - The DKI Provincial Government plans to build 11 simple rental apartments (rusunawa) starting next year. This was previously revealed by the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung after the 2027 budget planning meeting.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Housing and Settlement Area Service Kelik Indriyanto explained that the flats to be built are spread across North Jakarta, West Jakarta, and East Jakarta.

Among them are Rusun Muara Angke, Marunda Cluster C, Komarudin, Rorotan IX, Cakung KM 2, Tongkol stage III, Marunda Cluster A, Marunda Cluster B, Semper Cakung Drain, Bojong Indah, and Daan Mogot KM 18.

"The target for occupancy of the apartment is the programmed community and the general public, in accordance with Regional Regulation Number 111 of 2024 (concerning the Mechanism for Occupancy of Simple Rental Apartments)," Kelik told reporters, Friday, June 26.

Kelik said that the scheme for the construction of 11 new flats in the capital was being proposed to the Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP).

"The 11 flats are in the process of being proposed to the Ministry of PKP, it is hoped that it can be fully supported through the 3 million house program as a joint portfolio between the central and regional governments," he explained.

Previously, in the initial discussion of next year's budget planning, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung revealed that his party would budget 11 new apartment buildings as an effort to expand access to housing for Jakarta residents.

The plan to build flats is one of the focus of the DKI Provincial Government in the midst of increasingly limited land availability and high property prices in Jakarta. The government considers the development of vertical housing to be a more realistic solution than expanding the construction of stilt houses.

"In the budget meeting, I have agreed that next year we will build 11 new large flats to provide convenience in an open and transparent manner for anyone to own or rent it," said Pramono, Wednesday, June 24.

Pramono admitted that not all residents have the ability to buy a freehold house in Jakarta. Therefore, the construction of vertical housing will continue to be encouraged as a strategy to meet the public's housing needs.

"Because it's impossible for people in Jakarta to own land unless they are capable. Therefore, vertical housing is the key word for that," said Pramono.
