Until Tuesday Morning, The Pertamina Balongan Factory Fire Has Not Been Extinguished

JAKARTA - Unit Manager for Commrel & CSR Pertamina RU VI Balongan Indramayu Cecep Supriyatna said the fire that engulfed the tank at Pertamina Balongan refinery until Tuesday, March 30, morning had not yet died.

"The fire (which burned the Pertamina Balongan refinery tank) has not yet been extinguished," said Cecep via short message in Indramayu, reported by Antara, Tuesday, March 30.

Cecep has not yet conveyed in detail the current condition of the Pertamina Balongan refinery, but what is certain is that the fire can be localized so that it does not spread to other tanks.

According to Cecep, the source of the fire is also not known, because until now the fire is still burning, but from reports it is suspected that it was caused by lightning.

"Meanwhile, we still suspect (the fire was caused) by lightning," he said.

The Pertamina Balongan refinery fire occurred on Monday, March 29 in the early hours of the morning, where previously the residents around the location smelled a very strong odor on Sunday, March 28 evening.

A few hours later the residents heard a very loud bang accompanied by fire that burned the Pertamina Balongan refinery tank.

As a result of the Pertamina Balongan refinery fire, thousands of residents had to be evacuated to a safer place. The fire also left 29 minor injuries and six others seriously injured.
