Flash Flood Disaster Emergency Response Period In Ternate Officially Extended

TERNATE - Ternate City Government, North Maluku (Malut) officially extended the emergency response period after the flash flood disaster in Rua Village which killed 19 people and damaged dozens of residents' houses over the next two weeks.

"The decision to extend the emergency response period after receiving a report on each handling area and it is concluded that the emergency response period must be extended for the next 14 days," said Ternate City Secretary Rizal Marsaoly in Ternate, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, September 7.

As is known, the Ternate City Government set an emergency response period on August 25 and ended September 7, 2024, but based on the results of the 13-day evaluation meeting after the disaster, the Ternate City Government together with other related elements extended the emergency response period.

Rizal, who is also the Emergency Response Coordinator for the Terra Ternate flood, admitted that there were a number of handlings that had to be carried out after the flood disaster in Rua, so that the emergency response status had to be extended, especially to carry out recovery to the handling of various infrastructure buildings that were damaged by the flood.

Based on the report, as many as 72 heads of families (KK) or 245 people affected by the disaster have been recorded at the Ternate Social Service and as many as 19 families were placed in temporary housing, before their permanent housing was built by the Ministry of PUPR, with a total of 49 housing units.

According to him, the two points that have been prepared to be in the Haltim dormitory and the flats belonging to the StIKIP Ternate campus.

Therefore, out of a total of 72 families, 53 families will be returned to their respective homes, because from the data, as many as five houses were heavily damaged and the remaining 19 houses were moderately damaged.

Previously, in the emergency response status of the flash flood disaster in Rua Village, his party formed an emergency response post for the Bandang Flood Disaster in Rua Village and focused on evacuating victims of flash floods and continuing to focus on evacuating victims due to the flood.

Meanwhile, the flash flood refugees are still being placed at the Vocational School of Kastela Village.
