DPR Asks The Ministry Of Education And Culture To Protect Students From Sexual Violence And Bullying

JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission X DPR RI Syaiful Huda asked the government, especially the Ministry of Education and Culture, to protect students from sexual violence and bullying by prohibiting access to pornographic sites.

Huda is concerned about the series of bullying cases that have recently occurred in the world of Indonesian education. According to him, this problem has become homework for the government and the Indonesian House of Representatives.

"We have big homework related to our education world today. We have to be honest about expressing our deepest concern. The three big sins that we have maximized in the last 5 years but honestly have not received maximum results. Even what has occurred is a trend of increasing sexual violence, acts of bullying are getting higher day by day," said Huda at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, September 6.

Huda assessed that the problem of bullying as happened in Palembang and Bogor must be a serious concern for the government in the future. Because acts of bullying and violence have become a kind of new endemic behavior of students.

"There are many ways the government, I think, has to take more concrete steps in the future. One of the most concrete and carried out by the government, I have repeatedly conveyed that it protects our students by way that our students should no longer be able to access pornographic sites and violent sites. This is our homework, "said Huda.

"And it is very possible for us to ask the government to carry out these restrictions," added the West Java legislator.

The PKB politician gave an example, cases of violence in Palembang show that four children aged 12, 13 and 16 years can easily access pornographic acts on their respective cellphones.

Then, it became a deviant behavior until finally committing acts of violence against students or students until they died.

"So I think the quickest option so that mitigation is also clear and the impact will be felt directly is to ensure that the government limits the access of our students to pornographic sites and pornography," he concluded.
