Medistra Hospital Clarifies Hijab Prohibition: We Always Give The Same Opportunity Without Viewing SARA

JAKARTA - Medistra Hospital provided clarification regarding the news regarding the resignation of one of the oncology specialists due to allegations of banning the use of the hijab.

In a written statement, Tuesday, September 3, Medistra Hospital wants to straighten out the news circulating so as not to cause misperceptions for the wider community.

The following is the clarification of the Medistra Hospital:

1. The management of Medistra Hospital apologizes and regrets the misunderstanding of the interview process carried out by one of our employees. As a health service provider, Medistra Hospital is always obedient and obedient to applicable regulations, and is committed to always respecting diversity and providing equal opportunities for all employees regardless of gender, ethnicity, race, religion and group (SARA).

2. Medistra Hospital already has a staffing regulation that regulates appearance and behavior standards that do not prohibit the use of the hijab for its employees at all. The provisions as above are applied in daily activities at the Medistra Hospital, where there are many specialist doctors and employees (public doctors, nurses, medical support staff and non-medical personnel) who use the hijab while on duty.

3. Medistra Hospital has great respect and appreciation for all differences in beliefs, and guarantees the right of all employees to worship according to their respective beliefs, one of which is to provide prayer facilities (mosques and prayer rooms) and organize spiritual activities.

4. Due to the misunderstanding that occurred, currently the management has taken firm action by providing warnings and guidance to the employees in question, and no longer including the person concerned in the interview team for prospective employees of the Medistra Hospital.
