BANDUNG - The West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) has partnered with the Meta technology company to help trace the digital trail of the perpetrators of the kidnapping and persecution of a woman with the initials YTR (29) in Bandung Regency, West Java who is still at large.

West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan said the cooperation was carried out to detect the whereabouts of suspect Taufik Hidayat through his activities on social media.

"We are also working with foreign parties, namely in the cyber field, Meta, which manages data on social media. We are cooperating to be able to detect it from social media so that it can show the whereabouts of the person concerned," said Rudi as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 23.

Rudi said the West Java Police had formed a joint team involving the Cyber Directorate, the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation, and the Narcotics Investigation Directorate to thoroughly uncover the case.

According to him, investigators suspect that the suspect is not only involved in the kidnapping and persecution case, but also has the potential to be related to other criminal acts.

"We formed a joint team from all the Criminal Investigation Directorates in the West Java Police because we saw that the spectrum of this case was quite broad. There is an allegation of the involvement of the perpetrator in various other criminal acts," he said.

From the results of the temporary search, the police learned that the suspect was a mantandebt collector. Investigators are currently tracing the track record of the suspect's work by asking for information from a number of companies that have ever been related to him.

"We will investigate all of the track record in the debt collector. There are several companies that we already know and we will ask for information regarding the whereabouts and behavior of the person concerned," he said.

The forensic team has identified a number of injuries suffered by the victim.

Rudi said that the results of the examination showed damage to several parts of the victim's body, which was allegedly the result of violence during the period of detention.

"Forensic doctors have been able to identify damaged and non-functioning organs, including the eyes, then the lips, there are traces of sharp objects on the legs, then there are cigarette marks and so on," said Rudi.

He said the findings would be part of the evidence to uncover the actions allegedly committed by the suspect against the victim over the past three years.
