Lukman Edy Admits Rescheduling PKB Congress Waits For Directions From PBNU

JAKARTA - Former Secretary General of the National Awakening Party Lukman Edy said the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board would provide directions regarding the reschedule of the PKB counter congress which was originally planned for September 2-3 in Jakarta. "Yes, in the near future PBNU will provide directions and instructions," said Lukman when contacted by ANTARA from Jakarta, Monday, September 2. Lukman admitted that his party had gone to PBNU to report and at the same time submit important documents to consider the implementation of the PKB counter congress in Jakarta. "We also state to PBNU that technically and the material is ready for its implementation," he said. Furthermore, he said that his party was still enthusiastic about the change of PKB towards the 1998 end, although the congress could not be held on September 2-3. Previously, Lukman Edy said the counter congress on September 2-3 in Jakarta would invite President Joko Widodo. "We have a plan for the congress that we will make to be opened by PBNU (Large Manager of Nahdlatul Ulama), and later closed by the President," said Lukman at the Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Jakarta, Tuesday (27/8). He explained that the congress in Jakarta would encourage prospective PKB general chairman other than Muhaimin Iskandar who had served for about 20 years.

In addition to the congress planned by Lukman Edy's camp, the PKB DPP has held a congress on August 24-25 in Bali, and appointed Muhaimin Iskandar to re-serve as chairman of the political party.
