JAKARTA - The death toll from the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has reached 1,500 cases.

"Until today, there are 3,442 confirmed cases, including 797 isolation or inpatient patients, 615 people have recovered, and 1,521 others have died. The mortality rate reaches 44 percent," said the Ministry of Communication and Media RD Congo via the X platform, reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Thursday, July 30.

Previously, on May 17, the WHO declared the Ebola outbreak in RD Congo and Uganda a public health emergency of international concern.

The UN agency assessed that the risk of spreading the outbreak to a wider area was still high, so it was necessary to strengthen the handling and surveillance measures in the affected countries.
