JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria, appealed to residents of the capital city to stay at their respective homes and not homecoming.

"There is no need to leave unless it is very important and urgent. Not allowed to leave the city. Moreover, younger siblings under the age of nine and parents over 60 years old, we ask to be at home," said Deputy Governor Riza as reported by Antara, Sunday, March 28.

Riza said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government supports the central government's policy to prohibit Eid homecoming.

"The central government is not allowed to go home together, of course, we are very happy and supportive. Even though this is burdensome for residents who did not go homecoming last year, this year they also did not go homecoming," continued Deputy Governor Riza.

Riza understands that this policy must be taken by the government, solely to ensure the safety and health of citizens.

He considered that the policy could prevent residents from gathering in their hometowns. Especially to meet parents who are susceptible to COVID-19.

"Do not let us carry the virus there, return to Jakarta with the virus again. So do not let our presence in the village cause problems, especially when we are exposed to the virus, especially until someone we love and care about dies," Riza said.

Riza also appealed to residents to make health protocols their daily needs.

"We want the health protocol not because there are regulations from the authorities and sanctions, we are implementing it because we believe that the health protocol is a necessity," he said.
