North Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Hary Sudwijanto revealed that many of these animals live in Malinau, Tana Tidung, and Bulungan regencies.

"In the shophouse, a protected animal was found, namely a green cucak. The suspect is a resident of the city of Surabaya, East Java, who owns a house domiciled in Tarakan City," he explained.

"From the police investigation, the perpetrators marketed a lot of green cucak birds in Surabaya, East Java. For green cucak, yellow neck types are sold in the price range of Rp. 100,000 to Rp. 200 thousand per head. Meanwhile, black-neck green cucak is sold for Rp. 400 thousand per head," he said.

The Regional Police Chief emphasized that the perpetrators could be suspected of Article 40 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 21 paragraph (2) of Law Number 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and Their Ecosystems.
"The maximum sentence is five years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp. 100 million," he said.
