Second Day Of Pilkada Registration 2024, KPU Receives 269 Cakada In 238 Regions In Indonesia

The General Election Commission (KPU) recapitulates the number of candidates for regional head candidates (cakada) who register for the 2024 Pilkada for two days of registration period.

Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Mochammad Afifuddin explained that as many as 269 cakada pairs had registered in 238 provinces and regencies/cities throughout Indonesia.

"There are 21 pairs of candidates for governor and deputy governor from political parties or coalitions of political parties received," Afif said in his statement, Thursday, August 28 evening.

Then, there are 12 pairs of candidates for regent and deputy regent from individuals received, as well as 200 pairs of candidates for regent and deputy regent from political parties or coalitions of political parties received.

Then, 3 pairs of candidates for mayor and deputy mayor from individuals received, 33 pairs of candidates for mayor and deputy mayor from political parties or coalitions of political parties received.

"Based on the number of nomination registrations, until the second day of registration for this candidacy, a total of 15 candidates for regional heads from individuals and 254 pairs of regional head candidates from political parties or coalitions of political parties whose registrations are accepted," explained Afif.

In addition, there are also 1 pair of candidates for regent and deputy regent from political parties or coalitions of political parties, as well as 1 pair of candidates for mayor and deputy mayor from political parties or coalitions of political parties whose registrations are returned.

"Based on the number of regions that have carried out the registration process, until the second day of the registration period for this candidacy, a total of 238 regions, consisting of 21 provinces, 186 regencies and 31 cities," he explained.

The provincial KPU and district/city KPU will still receive registration for the 2024 Pilkada until Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 23.59 local time.
