Putri Akbar Tandjung Resigns From The Surakarta Pilkada Candidate

The daughter of senior politician Akbar Tanjung, Sekar Tanjung, has decided to resign from the 2024 Surakarta Regional Head Election (Pilkada) nomination.

"I am Sekar Tandjung as the chairman of the Surakarta Golkar Party and the candidate for regional head of Surakarta City from the Golkar Party has decided to resign as a candidate for regional head of Surakarta City from the Solo Golkar Party for the 2024 regional elections," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 28.

He said the decision was taken after through careful consideration and coordination with the party.

"This decision is not something that I take unilaterally and easily. Especially for parties, sympathizers, hard-working teams, I take this decision on the basis of loyalty to the Golkar Party," he said.

He said that after receiving direct directions from the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Bahlil Lahadalia and the DPP, the Golkar Party together with other political parties that are members of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Plus support the pair of regional head candidates who are considered the most appropriate for KIM Plus.

"We comply with the leadership dawuh (order) and the DPP decision," he said.

In this case, his party is ready to support and win the candidate pair promoted by KIM Plus, namely Respati Ardi-Astrid Widayani.

"God willing, this couple is ready to continue the progress of the city of Surakarta. We are united to support victory so that victory can be achieved. Let's be solid, work optimally for the greater interest, for our beloved Solo," he said.

Previously, Gusti Bhre, who was also promoted by KIM Plus, also decided to resign from the nomination of the Surakarta Regional Head Election. One of the considerations is the absence of parental blessing.
