Kamala Harris And The Walz Team Start Bus Tours For Campaigns In Georgia

JAKARTA - The pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates from the Democratic Party, Kamala Harris and Team Walz will campaign together on Wednesday in Georgia.

This is a state won by the Democratic Party with a narrow advantage in 2022, being able to play a decisive role in this year's election which will be held next November.

Election competition has changed dramatically since Harris became his party candidate last month, replacing incumbent President Joe Biden who resigned.

He hopes to garner black voter support which is about a third of Georgia's voters and will be crucial in an effort to win there.

Harris and Walz will take the bus through southern Georgia, home to some of their largest black population and where the campaign has added staff and opened field offices.

The tour will peak with Harris' campaign in the coastal area on Thursday.

"The campaign in the Peach State section is very important because it represents a diverse coalition of voters, including rural, urban and urban residents of Georgia with a large population of black voters and working-class families," the Harris campaign team said.

Before President Biden stepped down and supported Harris, polls showed Republican candidate Donald Trump was ahead in Georgia, and some black voters were disappointed with the Democratic Party.

However, since then, Harris has continued to gain support in national polls and has been driven by more than $500 million in donations.

The latest poll compiled by FiveThirtyEight shows Harris was just behind Trump, 46.0 percent compared to 46.6 percent in Georgia, compared to a five-point lead for Trump before Harris took part.

Prior to the 2020 presidential election, the victory of candidates from the Democratic Party in the US Presidential Election there took place in 1992.

If elected, Harris will be the first female president in US history. As a black woman and South Asia, she strives to increase support for Democrats among black voters and motivate new groups of voters.

This is Harris' second trip to Georgia since he became a Democratic candidate. Harris, 59, promised Democrats would win a state that has 16 electoral college votes and is one of several states that could lean towards the Republic or Democrats. Democrats won it by less than 12,000 votes in 2020.

The recent national poll shows Harris building a narrow advantage over Trump since he entered competition on July 21.
