JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung's candidate for governor will clarify his tweet on X (formerly Twitter) in a sexist tone which is now viral, along with his registration to the DKI Jakarta KPU.

One of his tweets he uploaded on August 23, 2010, was, "From Bandung to Jkt, hopefully you don't meet PAMER SUSU MONTOK (PAdat MERayap Susul Usul MObil RonTOK)".

After registering as Jakarta's cagub to the KPU, Pramono explained that his tweet at that time was just a joke he made as an ordinary person.

"So the era in 2010, the people who played on Twitter were in the era of joking, like TikTok now. When viewed with today's portrait, TikTok is certainly very interesting, I am one of those watching for it, TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, and so on," said Pramono, Wednesday, August 28.

However, Pramono emphasized that currently, who has served as Cabinet Secretary, it is no longer possible to upload similar tweets.

"If this is in the portrait 15 years later, maybe it will be different what I said on my Twitter. (At the time) it was more of a hashtag 'chain ah' and it was all about a busy joke. I'm sure everything in that generation did the same thing," he explained.

Furthermore, Pramono also admitted that he did not regret or apologize for his previous tweets. Because, he did not reveal statements that blasphemed and did not have pornographic elements.

"Am I sorry for doing that? No, because I have never at all blasphemed someone, demeaned people, then there is also no pornography. That then there are words that are a little joke and that I am responsible for that," he added.

On the one hand, Pramono admitted that he did not plan to resign from the position of Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) after registering as a candidate for Governor of DKI Jakarta to the DKI Jakarta KPU Office today. Pramono registered with Rano Karno as a deputy governor candidate.

Pramono emphasized that in the Pilkada Law, he is still allowed to serve as a Cabinet Secretary when running as a candidate for regional head. Meanwhile, those who are required to resign from their position as state officials when participating in the regional elections are the TNI, Polri, and ASN.

"There are many state officials, there are many experiences (who are advancing in the regional elections). Some want to resign, some don't. Frankly, I personally did not open it, I actually conveyed that," explained Pramono at the DKI Jakarta KPU Office, Wednesday, August 28.

Before he and Rano were officially appointed as candidates for Governor-Deputy Governor of Jakarta on September 22, Pramono admitted that he would continue to work as usual in managing President Joko Widodo's cabinet.

"Because this is a new determination then on September 22, I will work as usual. I will use my time to go to the field outside of office hours, and I will continue to work professionally because that is my personal strength," he explained.

Meanwhile, after entering the 2024 Pilkada campaign period, Pramono opened the possibility that he would resign so that he would focus on winning the regional head contestation.

"If the time is needed to step down for me, just take it easy, just back and forth. It's not too serious. But no less important, I still want to contribute as long as I am still given the opportunity to work to provide the best service for the government, for the President, for the Vice President," Pramono explained.
